Well, we did say we might go quiet for a while! :-)

Hello all! It’s been quite a few months since our last update and you could be forgiven for thinking things had gone a bit silent. But rest assured, a lot has been going on quietly behind the scenes. We’ve spent the summer months locked down writing and demoing songs for our new album. We don’t want to say too much at this stage because we’re still kicking stuff around, but we’ll keep you posted about how things are progressing and give you an update in the New Year.

What we can say is that we’re all very excited about the way this album is taking shape. Some of the songs are quite a departure for us. We love them and we think you will too, but we don’t want to rush things, so we hope you’ll bear with us a little longer.

In the meantime, we can announce our first gig of 2016. This will be for the CRS at The Wesley Centre in Maltby on Saturday 9th April, joined by very special guests PsiPhi. We’ll be debuting more songs from the new album there. And we have some interesting things lined up for later in the year – more on that as soon as we can. So we’ll catch up with you all again soon and we hope you can all join us at Maltby.

Tickets are on sale now through the usual outlets. Catch you later!

APRIL 2015

Didn't we have a lovely time at The Citadel! We hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did and that our taster of things to come - 'The Delicate Art Of Falling Apart' and 'Progress In Reverse' has whetted your appetites for more things Fishy. Thanks to Haze for opening the night; to all of you who came along to show your support (you were awesome, as always, especially during the 'Holiday' mayhem!); to The Citadel St Helens for making us feel most welcome (great venue you have there); the sound and lighting guys who did an amazing job; and of course to the Classic Rock Society, without who's continuing support, bands like us would have a much harder time finding a platform for our music.

So what's next? Well, we're all really keen to get this new album sorted. We're probably just under half way there in writing it, so the plan now is to get our heads down and produce a piece of work of which we can be proud, and that you can enjoy. So we might go quiet for a bit, but as they say, no news is good news! Watch out for updates here.

See you soon!
Steve, Jo, Bob, Carl, Paul & Dave.

MARCH 2015

Time for a quick update. We've been busy working on new material for the last few weeks. One of the songs that has come out of those sessions has turned into perhaps our most ambitious to date - "The Delicate Art Of Falling Apart." Weighing in around 18 minutes, it's a piece in three movements: I. Now Is Not The Time, II. Half The Battle, III. The Light At The End. We're working hard behind the scenes to get this song ready in time to debut at our show in April at The Citadel, St Helens. We're all psyched by the direction our music is taking and we can't wait to share it with you.

Meanwhile, we've also been demoing "Progress In Reverse." Those of you who saw our show at Maltby and our appearance at Danfest4 in Leicester will have seen us perform this new song live. The demo should be finished soon, and when it is, we'll give you a sneak preview. Until then, if you haven't got your tickets for The Citadel, do snap one up from The Classic Rock Society as they're cheaper in advance. Don't forget we'll also be joined by Sheffield proggers Haze for this gig, so not only do you get to see 2 great bands for you money, you also help support the Classic Rock Society and ensure live progressive music continues to have a platform.

See you there!

A huge thank-you to all involved in organising this year's Danfest4 festival: to the other bands Also Eden, The Room, The Tirith, Primitive Instinct, Konchordat, Jump and Haze (see you in April!); to the staff of The Musician; to the audience who made us feel most welcome; and of course to promoter Danny Mayo for making it all happen. We had a blast!

Now that Danfest is behind us, we're planning on knuckling down to writing some new Strangefish material over the winter months. In the meantime, we're delighted to announce that our second album 'Fortune Telling' is now available to buy on iTunes, Amazon and the other major retailers, and to stream via Spotify. Released early in 2006, 'Fortune Telling' bagged a string of awards at the Classic Rock Society including Best Album and Best Song (Ignorance of Bliss).

So if you haven't got a copy, now's your chance - and why not check out our debut album 'Full Scale' as well. :-)

Here at Strangefish HQ we're busy gearing up for our appearance at this year's Danfest 4 festival at The Musician in Leicester on Saturday 15th November. ALSO EDEN, THE ROOM and THE TIRITH kick things off on Friday 14 after doors open at 18:30. Saturday evening will see headliners HAZE supported by ourselves, with the afternoon headline JUMP, KONCHORDAT and PRIMITIVE INSTINCT. Doors open at 12:30 for the Saturday.
